Min-Etune - What's next?

Min-Etune from Gibson is a device you install on the headstock that tunes your guitar automatically. A few strums and you're ready to go. It's powered by a 9V battery and replaces the machine heads on your Gibson.

It's a gadget. And although it looks like a fun and interesting thingy, there are a few things that you should keep in mind:

For one: never install this on an SG guitar. SG guitars have the tendency to have a bad weight balance between headstock and body. The headstock in already on the heavier side and you can imagine when attaching an additional device with battery to it.

Gibson installed it stock for a while on their Les Paul Standard and most upper models. That simply doesn't feel right to have a robo-thingy installed on a traditionally high quality guitar like that.

Fortunately, I noticed that they came to insight and (as far as I know) is keeping it mainly as an aftermarketing installation.

What's next? Let a guitar be a guitar and grant a guitarist the right to show off his abilities ;-) If not we'll all be playing 'Guitar Hero' :-D
